Aperian Lab Solutions was originally founded as the Forensic Toxicology Lab of East Alabama Medical Center in 2003. Since then, it has grown to serve more than 1500 clients. Its staff boasts more than 70 years of combined experience in forensic and clinical drug testing.

The lab was founded by scientific director Dr. Jerry McHan and clinical director Allen Valaer. Realizing that there was no longer an accredited testing lab in Alabama, the pair recognized the opportunity to fill the void.

Aperian Lab Solutions earned its accreditation less than a year later, making it the only independent, accredited lab in the state.
